loss of high end power

alright i was racing my friend in my 88 SE, it was runnin fine, pullin through the gears in high RPM's until the last race. did a little launch, had pull through out the lower RPM's but as soon as i start hittin the higher RPM's i noticed that it stopped pulling.it felt that it had lost power, it would go through the RPM's but it would not pull. so what the hell is this?

my 5th and 6th ports work fine, so i assume, because i revved the motor while under the hood and they seem to function fine. but does it have to do with bad connections with the spark plugs or anything? do you think it would do anything with the injectors? this problem just occured out of the cuts, so what the hell is wrong wit my car. it has 118, xxx miles on it, and it was runnin perfectly before this. the motor is fine, is there anything i can do to get it running perfectly again?

please help me on this.

thnx
Rory

did it go through the higher rpms quickly? or did it take longer for the revs to raise? If it did it quickly it probably was a slipping clutch as nfs05 mentioned. If they raise slowly then you have another problem, perhaps a clogged catalytic converter.

sounds to me like your clutch just got hot from racing and started slipping. It will probably be fine once it cools down.

wait, the RPM's do raise slowly. thats what i meant by no pull and no power. so could it be a clogged cat?
