Loose shifter?

I just got my car, an 88 rx-7.
the one problem is, is that the shifter is really really loose and when its in neutral it just kind of wobbles around...it goes into gears alright though it is kind of hard to find reverse sometimes. Another problem is that after each shift the car jogs...I think this might be an rpm problem...Has anyone else noticed that you have to rev higher with each shift on the rx?

you are saying the shifter itself is loose or the shift ****? you could check the bushings to see if they are still good. you could also check if the three bolts holding the shifter in is loose. you could also just tighten the ****. not sure if you got the **** with that extension on there but if you do. you could just take that extension off and attach the **** directly to the shifter. if those don't work, probably have to give some more details about your problem.
