loose gas pedal (slack)
ive been searching...
well i took out my dash, carpet, installed new carpet, new dash. everything works (FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER)
'cept the gas pedal. its got like 1 inch of free play. its light enough to bounce around off your finger. the cable has lots of slack
how do i fix this?

It's in the FSM...
I've never adjusted mine at the peddle end (if there even is an adjustment there), but I have at the engine side, at the standoff with the jam nuts at the back of the TB...
If you have that much freeplay all of a sudden, don't you think it would be something else? Carpet lodged up under the pedal lever, didn't quite reinstall the throttle cable run correctly, that kind of thing???

no, i touched none of that... carpet isnt hurting anything
as far as i can tell, the reason is because when we were pulling the carpet out (sucks getting it out without removing the heater core) we really had to yank, i think it may have over extended the pedal UP and done something to the cable
ill check my fsm ... thanks
anyone who ever had to do this can let me know how it went, the fsm is usually vague i like being prepared for horror stories
