loose door fix
okay, i met some dude with an 86 gxl like me. looks really nice, the 245's in the back looked really nice, but what i came away with from the meeting was envy over his doors. i thought mine were pretty solid, but when i closed his they were like a new car. so solid feeling, no noise, just a good shut. i have read the haynes and the chilton's manuals and they are not very much help. they tell how to adjust the locks, and the up\ down\ side to side adjustments, but how do i make it shut like new again? thank u in advance for all the great responses
For minor adjustments:
The two screws that hold the latch to the body at the rear door jam are the adjustments. Loosening those will allow you to move the latch rod around to pull the door tighter or looser, up or down as needed.
Again this is the U shaped latch rod on the body, not the door itself.
Also check to see if your bump stops are on the door still.
