I would recommend that you read the FAQs at the top and also to visit this site:

At the bottom is a how-to on buying a second generation RX-7. Good luck.

Smoke???? eeeewwwww.. a slight puff of smoke is not problem when you start it up.... but smoke that hangs around for a while... and a lot.... RUN AWAY.. RUN AWAY.... Unless you are willing to spend 1500 on a rebuild plus the cost of the car.

You don't want an automatic Rex, that's no fun! A little bit of smoking is normal from a cold start.

Things to look for:

1) Sunroof motor and rust
2) Rear Antenna motor
3) Rear hatch defroster
4) Power window switches
5) headlight motor
6) hood release and gas cap relese levers
7) cracked vents
8) a/c control

That's all I could think of for now.

aside from the general interior, exterior stuff.
make sure you look real good, and make sure nothing is leaking in the engine bay.
