retro-spec/mazda FC3S RX7
Look up threads for user fazzt73. The guy was active on here for a while. He has mixed reviews on all of the car forums he sells on. Sometimes parts take a long time. The quality control isn't always the best, but you won't find the parts he offers for FC elsewhere.

With that being said, I haven't seen him on rx7club for years. If they are still around, maybe things have improved.

I have both a radiator panel and a front lip from him I got a while back when he was still active on here. I have no complaints.

A while back I sent him mail through his website asking if he'd be interested in molding any parts I have and never heard back from him.

i'm about 60 days out from making a gauge pod like that, i've got it drawn up in solidworks. i'm just in process in figuring out how to get a decent 3D print.

you can kind of see where the one in the pic isn't flat, and it took a LOT of hand fitting it get it in there

Is that going to be designed for an S5 or S4?

Also, it may just be me, but I'm seeing a center dash piece instead of a idiot cluster pod.

On that subject, does anyone make blank replacements for the center dash trim anymore? Seeing as the Retro-Spec stuff no longer seems to be any option, all I can find are those glitzy carbon fiber pieces from ebay.

the idiot cluster i haven't tried to make yet, because the simpler one turned out so bad. not quite sure why.

Here's why I did;
Take out your idiot cluster, remove the lights from the plastic housing.
Get a cheap 3 gauge cluster from eBay. Set it in the plastic cluster housing and fiberglass around it.
Once it's dry, bore out your 3 holes to 52mm, sand and paint with a flat black (gloss will reflect on the windshield. You don't want that.) I also put a coat of bumper coating to match the texture of the dash.
Install you gauges with the wires ran neatly behind the dash and enjoy.
I will try to take some pictures tomorrow for reference.
Hope this helps. good luck.

Hopefully if you make one you can alleviate the "can't see them because of the sun's glare" problem.
The gauges look good there but in the sun you can't really see them and at night they shine an image into the windshield.

Here's a couple pics for reference.
Also forgot to mention I used old shirt material stretched over the area to be fiberglassed. Added resin to that and then the glass.

That actually looks mint, might need a different paint scheme to match the RX7's dash though. That being said, I've no idea how to work fiberglass... Would it be particularly hard to mold in a sun visor over the gauges?

If he got back to you, I guess should strike while the iron is hot as well.

While I cautioned dealing with him (Retrospec/Paulo/fazzt73), I would also give him a try. His reviews are a mix of good, indifferent (slight quality issues and/or delivery was slow), and bad. The prices are good. He has already communicated a delivery expectation of 3-4 weeks. I'd just do one part at a time rather than dumping a bunch of money at once. If you don't like or don't get one part, you don't lose much money. Most of the parts Retrospec manufacturers are made by nobody else. I'm looking at the dual gauge pod that goes over the instrument cluster. I bought one from EVO-R years ago, but it ended up being a RHD part that I couldn't even use.

Y, after reading the comments, I wasn't planning on ordering from these guys, but figured I'd try to contact and see what flies.
Someone got back to me within 24 hrs and, like you said, worst case scenario, I'll have waited 3 weeks and out $70. Not too bad of a risk for a part that is very difficult to find. I'll let you know how it goes.

I got this on Amazon for like 10 bucks. I'm sure it will fit pretty close. I had my warning lights in when I took the pictures.

Well, a little over a month later--sent an email asking why I haven't received shipment, Didn't receive a reply, filed a dispute w/paypal and he refunded my money without my having to file a claim.

I guess I'll get rid of my double-din radio and try and find a single din 3 gauge blank. That should hopefully be easier to source.

That's a shame, the retro-spec unit looks pretty awesome for the price.

I love seeing others's replacements with ingenuity using available parts though!
