LOOK!!!!! important question, gonna spend some cash
i am getting a new or used motor, advice on where and prices would be great, i would like a street ported or street bridge port.
once i get the motor i want to make a step forward in power. i have two choices in my mind right now, please read everything and give advice and experiences
1. i can get a wicked deal on a turbo and manifold, thean buy a intercooler, some fuel upgrades, and build a new exhaust, but then tranny questions and serious clutch issues come into play(any one want to trade a tII for a gxl) projected costs?
2. try and find a used carb setup, and keep the existing exhaust. could this be possible to get 250 hp out of.
please any responses encouraged. I am not concerned with driveability right now or reliability, just cost and possible power outputs, check out my current mods to see what you think would work best for me. I am looking for a good balance between cost and power. After reading the RX7 Handbook i am thinking carb

Talk to Rob about specific outputs. The carb setup is not going to ha ve the driveability of an EFI setup. I would look at a radical port with a sidedraft EFI manifold running a Haltech

LOL
privided you go with option 1 id recomend:
www.FC3s.org has used Jspec engines, availability is low though i think id give em a call
Mazdatrix.com as stated before has turbo engines
thats the only two i know of off the top of my head. At my comp at home i have more on my favorites ill try to post em later.
I know www.mazdarx7engines.com has engines but they are for rebuilds only so if you can get the turbo manifold plus all other TII parts then youd be all set. These guys can street port as well and they have a warenty for their engines for 2 years plus free shipping.
Good luck and welcome to the darkside

until i can afford a stand alone it seems that carbed might be a better idea, or buy a stinking tII. Does anyone have any power output numbers form a ported carbed engine?

Dave Petigrew (guy at my work) races his 3rd gen in national events.
His car has a 12a bridgeported and carberated and no turbo. He says he gets about 250 rwhp and revs to 11k.

from my research it looks like maybe i should go with a four port motor to get carbed, but racing beat has a new 6 port manifold for the holley carb. options!!!!
