Question long short short long - safety belt buzz/light

Guys, I'm stumped. Read a bunch of threads on this but not seeing the same thing. My safety belt light/buzzer is repettitively on and repeats in an exact timing sequence. This is on my 91 Vert with standard manual harness (Verts don't have the auto-passive shoulder harness).

Safety belt buzzer repeats with a combination of 4 beeps: Long-short-short-long. It does this and the cluster warning light comes on at the beginning of the first long beep and stays on until the last long beep..then goes out.

When I connect the lap belt, the audible beeping goes out, but the light continues in the same timing pattern of on - off as when the belt was not connected.....forever. Never stops.

I've read All-Data tech bulletins about problems with the circular wiper contacts on the 91s with passive harness causing this issue. A new design for this part was released...but that is for the standard coupe, not a vert.

I really don't think this is an instrument panel solder issue as all other lights function properly. Only 72K miles on the car.

Can anybody help here?

Thanks

If it wasn't clear in the first thread, I'm trying to get rid of the blinking light that comes on and off in a continuous pattern.

I'm okay with the buzzer/bell if thats the way it is supposed to opperate prior to connecting the belt.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of the blinking light?
On for 3 sec, off for 1 sec....on for 3 sec, off for 1 sec.

Thanks

The airbag light, in the idiot light/clock cluster.

SRS= Supplemental Restraint System = Air bag or mouse belts.

same problem

well, I have the same problem. My thought is if it onlt beeps while the belt is not buckled , you should buckle it. Mazda knew the temptation of driving fast and built in such a nice little saftey device. I don't really like it, but I can deal. and once I buckle up, the beeping stops, but the light continues to flash. Same pattern exactly.
So I've just learned to live with it, I know it's a huge pain in the *** and kinda distracting(red light flashing right in your line of sight), and that's about it.
I would really like to make it stop flashing, but I've got so many other electrical gremlins, that one is on the bottom of the list.

BTW- I was having all kinds of electrical problems with the CPU (alarm going off att random, the horn getting stuck on [ try driving everywhere you go with the horn at full blast!- you'll get some great looks from other drivers!] the brake lights not working, the turn signals not flasshing, etc.) and then I sent it to Icemark so he could rebuild it. it was once I got it back I saw the seatbelt buzzer/lights. I never saw the light flash or hear the buzzer before, and thought that icemark did something funny.
HE FIXED IT and made it work like a factory cpu again.

I know this doesn't help you fix your problem, but mabye you'll just learn to buckle up and deal with the flashing light!
