Long Road Trip
I was just wondering how a S5 Tii with a Koyo Rad and 3inch downpipe would do on a 800 mile trip from Iowa to Colorado and then back again during August. Ive done it before with a non turbo with no problems but with a turbo Im iffy. My friends said that I should stop every 1-2 hours to let the car cool alittle. Everything seems to be in good shape and I know that I should bring extra of things incase something fails. But is it a good idea?
I drove 11-12 hours one way and 11-12 hours back in my 1987 TII and it did just fine. Granted if you have maintained your car and keep it up to par and in good working condition, it should do fine. I always stocked up on oil, and coolant, made sure I had plenty of tools and spare hoses, etc. just in case. Changed the oil before I went and always let it cool down when I stopped for gas and food.
I'm not sure if you have an fmic tho, I have heard that the temp likes to climb on the freeway with one on. Not sure tho.

No I still have the top mount on so I guess Im good. If it shows no signs of problems from here to when I actually go. Then I'll take it. Thanks you guys.
