lol wtf? guy says if you swap you omp on s5's the engine will blow? wtf?

ok, ive got a friend with an s5 na, and the omp is bad according to the ecu. he chose to call a mechanic and the guy said if he uses a used one the engine will blow eventually. im calling bs on this? am i right or is there anything to his statement?

The S5 goes into limp mode if the MOP is messed up.

Technically I guess he could be right. If you put a used one on there I guess it could fail easier than a new one and lead to your engine blowing if you let it. I see it as kind of a situation where you can say anythings possible, just not probable.

find a good used one and just for saftely I would start premixing too. 1oz of 2 stroke or marvel mystery oil (your choice) per gallon should give you desirable protection.

MMO isn't suitable for premixing.

can you disable it to run premix with out removing it? the s5 one ie electrical not mecanical right? cant you trick it into thinking it works?

i see, we're finally getting through to people.

you can disable it but a good OMP still needs to be hooked up in its place, you can just set the other OMP aside in the engine bay unhooked to the engine but plugged in and premix.

Yea the S4 cars can have the OMP removed to premix without adverse effects, but the S5's have to leave it hooked up so the ECU recognizes it, or it will throw the car into limp mode... It doesn't have to be attached as long as it's plugged in...
