A little problem

First let me explain that I'm posting this for a friend

So my friends rx-7 is following me downstate delaware on route 13 in wilmington (right by hooters) and he drops from my rearview. Of course first thing I'm thinking he's broke down or the 7 just cant keep up with the JEEP! (ha) But on to the problem.

It runs but only at high RPM's, wont hold idle worth ...crap . . And it sounds like at low "idle" that he's only runniing off of one rotor. Plus the added smell of unburnt fuel and a lot of smoke!

I'm thinking maybe something with the ignition system? Or maybe he blew a seal or something. I dont know, can you people give me possible common problems? He wasnt running it hard when it quit on him. Engine runs, just doesnt idle at all, cuts off when you dont give it enough in thethrottle.

Thanks,

Travis

check the primary injector clips, sounds like he lost an injector. could have popped a rotor but i would check the clips to be sure they are secure and not broken first then i would do a compression test. last thing to check is to be sure all coils are firing, check them with good plugs, replace the plugs if they are worn out and retest.

check compression first....easy to do and will save you the time it takes to check everything else.
