little boxes in behind passengers kick panel...
I am presuming here that left hand drive cars have the opposite wiring loom to a right hand drive car does.
anyway with my 2nd T2 totally gutted i decided i was going to deloom the engine bay and remove all un-needed wiring from the wiring harness. on the passengeres side behind the kick panel is two little boxes, one is grey and says:
MOTOR FAILURE
MAZDA
N326 18 941
068800 5013
I am pretty sure this is only used when you are running the factory ECU and or the idiot lights in the middle of the dash, can someone confirm this for me?
also next to that grey box is a black one which says:
K8T 11371
and has 7 pins on it
anyone know what it does?
i am pretty sure i can ditch it aswell, if i can then i can ditch all the wiring which goes from the passengers side of the car across the firewall to the drivers side, as i dont have air cond, heater controlls, electric windows etc etc etc i can ditch approx 1/2 the wiring harness
Cheers
Shane

What year TII is it?
If it is the kind with auto seatbelts. there is a thing called a passive seat belt restraint unit. At least my 89 had one and apparently it was missing. They(mazda) wanted something like 300 bucks for it. if it is no that then maybe a factory amp. I am also sure the ECU or computer..i think it is called he ECU is under the carpet there. hopefully that will help a little.

its an '86 T2
I dont have the factory engine computer, its well south, as most other things in the car. it is totally gutted and is being turned in to a road legal race car.
too late if i needed to little circutry boxed, they are gone, along with all the wiring from the passengers side to the drivers side, i have removed well over HALF the wiring harness, cause it's not needed.

the CPU is on my drivers side
windscreen demister = toggle switch wired directly to fan motor
the knock control box is actually mounted above the steering coloum in our cars, dunno about yours
there is a grey box with about 10-12 wires going to it with the words KNOCK CONTROL written on it.
i have extended the left hand side of my wiring harness and the wires for the headlights/parklight/indicators etc no go thru the body in front of where the wires USED to go thru to the electric window/mirrors and go along under the guard, the ones for the right hand side go thru above the fuse box and along under the guard. all the relays that were in front of the radiator are now mounted in behind where the glove box (my haltech mounts in the glove box) will be.

Yep. Your cars are quite different. On a 87turbo, USA, the knock sensor is on the passengers side(right side of the car), stuck way back on the far right side of the foot well. And the CPU, on the drivers side(left side), near his left foot in general.
