Lincoln rims / Vert rim comparo! Weights & pics!

I saw a set of rims on a lincoln continental that looked very similar to BBS vert rims, so i bought them. The rims with tires totaled $100.36. The rims are the same size as the Vert rims aswell, a 15X6.5 with a 5X114.3 (5X4.5) bolt pattern. I thought they were so similar infact that i decided to weight them. It turns out that the rims are nearly the exact weight This was done with tires, but still i was quite shocked. The BBS vert rims with a Kumho ECSTA HP4 size 205/60R15 weighed in at 30 pounds, and the Lincoln BBS look alikes weighed in at 36 pounds with a Toyo Spectrum Touring Sport size 215/70R15. Im pretty sure the extra weight is all in the tire. Anyways, heres the pics you've all been waiting for!

Sweet, it'll be easier for me to find vert rims when I get them. Thanks!!

Since the rims themselves are supposed to weigh only ~11 lbs., I'll bet the tires do make a big difference in wheel weight. PM me if you ever weigh them with the tires off.

setup #1...

setup #2...

They are now painted solid metallic silver. Lips and all. Center caps are silver with a blue metallic center piece to match the car color.

All in all I really like these wheels. Once you get the 70 series monster truck tires off and throw some sporty tires on they look good and weigh much less. They fit flush with the front fenders. They could use another 1/2 inch in the rear though.

And yes, there is a deeper dish style out there. They have like 2.5 inches of lip on them. I thought about getting those for the rear...

I've seen almost identical rims to the vert BBS on a few cars

Such as old BMWs and some Chevy vans

bmw used BBS wheels around the same time as the 7 verts and they look nearly the same as well, but i think they were available in 16 as aposed to the vert 15 size. i dont know about the offset or bolt pattern though

I don't think your average BMW wheel would clear your caliper since they use the one piece stud and bolt straight into the hub, at work we usually gotta special order tires for those cars all the time.

BMW and GM (Chevy) use different bolt patterns, so we can't use their wheels.

well, bad news today, i bought the wrong bolt pattern of that style rim. You have to make sure they say 4.50 underneith the center cap, the ones i have say 4.25 OOOPPPSSS!!! Thats okay, i still have the reciept, ill just swap them out for some older lincoln rims that are exactly the same other than the bolt pattern.

thats odd... it shouldnt matter what year it is past 1990 or so. Mustang wheels fit just fine. Mine were from a '91 Towncar i believe.
