Lightweight flywheel=fast clutch wear

okay, I have the Bonez 12# aluminum flywheel. Is it just the way I drive or do these flywheels eat up clutches alot faster than a stock flywheel. I know I need to upgrade for the new power levels this engine puts out, but the clutch wears fast. Is this normal?

With the light weight flywheel, more slippage would be encountered on takeoffs, but don't think I would say it eats up clutch discs. Hate to say, but probably the way you drive. Somebody may correct me on this.

I guess it could be the way I drive, but with the latest clutch it doesn't slip at all, but it doesn't grab as hard as it did, even just 2 months ago. I don't drop it at anything higher than 2000 unless racing and I haven't even raced in a long time. Compared to other manual tranny cars I have driven or even this car before i put in the lightweight flywheel, it is going really fast

What clutch setup are you using? Also, what kind of shape is your clutch hydraulic system in?

There's no relationship between premature clutch wear and a light flywheel. Look elsewhere for your problem.

thank you, that was exactly the type of answer I needed. I guess I will look at the slave and master cylinders.

As for the type, It is some sort of oem clutch, came with the motor but still had some thickness to it. Pressure plate looks different than stock though. Longer fingers
