lightest flywheel

I need to know who to makes the lightest flywheel for a 89-91 rx7 n/a . Can I just use one from a TII and get the proper counterweight? Any JDM flywheels like exedy or JUN that make chrome moly ones? I want one that weighs around 8 to 9 lbs. I currently have the RB lightened flywheel, and 17 lbs does not cut it, any suggestions?

A few companies make aluminum ones that are around 10 lbs. or so... I know Racing Beat makes one, I think Mazdatrix has one too. If you want a really light flywheel, aluminum is your best bet I think.

I had a spare stock flywheel (s4 n/a) milled down to 20lbs and am currently waiting for my T2 intermediate housing to assemble my engine to try it out. 4lbs might not seem like much, but for a street/daily driven vehicle that 18% (or whatever it is) should be a nice compromise and it only set me back 50 bucks.

um, I have no problems launching my T2 with a 9lb aluminum flywheel. Also remember to add the weight of the counter weight.

Mazda Motorsports also sells a 3-4 lb flywheel for the Quarter Master multi-disk clutch units. Total is about $2,000, and the 5.5" clutch setup gets you just about the lowest inertia you can find off the shelf. However, notice that this is totally undriveable on the street for novice drivers. You can see pics of this setup by clicking on my WWW icon.
