"light wieght" fc package?

Hey, I just bought my fc and was told that it was a lightweight package, which included no power steering aluminim hood, and no rear seats. Is this some fabrication or did this package exsist?

Thanks.

US Sport "package" included the 4 pot brakes in 5 lug (same as GXL/Turbo), aluminum hood was not standard. I used to own an '87 Sport and it had a sunroof, power steering, and air conditioning stock.

I have a '91 coupe that kinda been MADE lightweight, no AC or PS, some emissions parts missing, aluminum TII hood, no spare, no rear carpet (will go back in though) more weight to be shed, and need to squeeze more power from the engine.

My '89 GTUs with a full tank, spare/jack, 2+2, dealer-installed AC, 4-piston calipers, 16x7 wheels, aluminum hood, roll-up windows, no sunroof, lightweight stock seats, and all else stock weighed 2721lbs on the race scales.

Same car minus the A/C, with new coilovers, new cats, same fuel level but remove spare/jack/carpet pad in rear, and single-exit exhaust weighed 2540lbs on the same set of scales. Still has the 2+2 seats, stock wheels, etc.

I plan on backdating the seats to the storage bins, lightweight 16x7.5 wheels shipped today, light header, two kevlar race seats and aluminum side mounts.....original planned weight in SCCA STS2-legal trim was 2470lbs but I don't know how heavy the rear seats are, and we may need to gain exhaust weight to meet local sound level requirements.

2400lbs is nice and light, albeit if its an earlier 86-88 car.

We were able to get a 1990 Turbo II down to 2510 on a set of race scales.
This is minus driver, and it had a 1/2 tank of gas.
Mind you, this car was basically stripped down but no cutting of sheet metal.
The stock dash was still there plus the two stock seats.
Almost everything else was removed.
I think I mentioned this in a thread waaaaay back a couple of years ago.
The owner gutting the stock electrical wiring to handle just the bare essentials to allow the car to run on the street.

The 86-87 Sport model was somewhat light weight, but there was no true light weight package. No S5 (89-91) could really be considered lightweight as even the lightest of those from the factory weighed as much as a S4 Turbo.

The standard features and options (and even weights) can be found at the top of this section in the stickies there.

My sport model's hood is probably aluminum since i can lift it with the nail on my index finger. Its my first rx7 so I haven't driven anything other than a sport model. I know it can take turns pretty well though on the stock suspension.
