Light FCs post your weight

How much does your FC weigh?

All you weight reducted guys list your items removed and car.

Mine is an 87 base no sunroof, 4 lug, NA driveline w/ future light steel flywheel. So far I have removed:

AC system and PS bracket
Tow brackets front and rear
Front bumper reinforcement and foam
Stock air box
Airpump "muffler" (hose goes under bumper cover to a canister)
Windshield washer system
Steel hood in favor of an aluminum 'vert hood
Power antenna swap for manual one on the roof rather than in the tail
Rear speakers and mounts
Dashboard steel reinforcement
CPU plate and bracket
Front precat heat shields (my header is heat wrapped)
Lots of engine bay brackets
EGR valve
Mechanical MOP, hoses, lines, and drive gear

So what do you FC lovers think? Will I make my goal of being under 2400 pounds?

How did you hold your dash in place without the steal frame?

mine weighs 2382 with me in it..
Removed "everything" my dash consisters of 4 guage pods and a rocker switch panel.. took all the unneeded wireing out.. cut out the speaker buckets.. only removed the front bumper support and left the rear(can you really trust the guy behind you??) everything in the engine bay thats not needed is gone.. no exhaust(open header is lighter ) my interior consistes of one corbeau forza seat.. just removed ECU, harness and FI setup in favor of a more potent and lighter carb setup(in the making).. i think thats it..

Yo,

I weighed my GTUs at the dragstrip. Don't know how accurate the scale was...but:

2710lbs.

No weight reduction on the car. A/C and Powersteering still there.

Does that count as "light"?

Well, I did keep the end pieces which needed to be cut from the main hulk. They attach to the plastic so it all can be bolted to the chassis.

2400# w/full interior + spare and jack
sans: insulation, a/c, dual exhaust, (should really reweigh the damn thing with the single) rear speaker buckets, extra brackets. And I lightened the ecu cover plate, (I like my car to stay running when friends kick the floor)

I'm going to tear into the dash this spring unless I decide to go custom and fab up an AL sheet one or do this one again in `glass. I also haven't ripped out the tar off the floor yet.

I also want to eventually go through and prune the wiring harness. Copper isn't light.

1991 GXL with s5 t2 engine, all power options, kept A/C, kept power steering, removed jack and spare tire, removed emissions, removed floormats.

Weighs in at 2400 lbs with half a tank of gas, w/o me inside.

Rarestrx, I would say 2700 for a S5 is lighter than stock, being in the S4 base model stock weight range. My goal is under 2400 and it looks like Jimmi325i is right about there. BTW I am remounting my CPU on the firewall so it can't be smashed by feet! When I go out to the garage to work on the car, it is like I am working on an airplane, looking for anything to take off in order to make it lighter. But I draw the line at interior removal . . . I want it to look pretty stock from the inside.

Hey Jimmi, you could break 13s with 180 at the rear wheels with a 2400 pound car, according to the quarter mile calculator on some Mustang site I was at.

Yeah, my rear interior is on its way out to the trash, but I will have one of my female friends sew me up a hatch cover out of some light weight fabric so it won't be obvious that there is anything missing in the car.

Front carpet will be replaced with something as I hate the color of it and it really does make for a much nicer daily driver.

I have a hairbrained scheme to replace the lower door pannels with aluminum sheet painted in some complementary fasion. (more to offset the stock 86 look than for shaving the whole 6 oz off each door) And I want to keep the door vents, as the dash would look like **** without them.

I'm thinking I'm already below the "unobtainable" 13 second mark. But since I have no timeslips I must be full of ****. (whatever... I don't derive any of my self worth from scatheart's opinion of me in any way shape or form) My goal is 12.999 or better on natural aspiration. Then again, I am not a drag racer. My heart is on the road courses, but I do like taking people at lights too.

well I hope you guys that remove the bumber renforcements and for the das don't use your car as daily drives, I mean accidents do happen and my old 89 gtu's engine would be gone by now that front bumper renforcenment saved it...I'd rather have my car be safe then wiegh more, but then again I do have a TII
