lexan sunroof

well I am almost done with a lexan sunroof. It is a cnc machined exact as the stock steel one, takes the stock weather striping, and is 3/8 thick as i measured the steel one to be. I will find out tom. if it is going to take form, when i release it from the jig i have holding it to the contour of the roof. hope it works!

Interesting how this topic keeps coming back!

I read the last thread linked to in this one and the story remains the same, both Ted and Icemark said it right when it comes to price, no one seems to be willing to pay what they are worth.

There is an original (the only one I know of) glass roof on eBay right now, passing $300 as we speak...

I paid more then that for mine, I would be willing to part with it too, but I can gaurantee you that my price will be closer to $400US, shipping not included.

I'm currently working on getting glass ones made. I have a buddy at a glass shop trying to bend to the right roof curvature. Lexan will be the next step, but I think glass is a better, more durable solution. PM "Turbo11". He has a glass one he's selling. Its bronzed I think like the 10AE glass.

If these turn out good, I would definetly buy one. My sunroof in my '88 GXL is almost completely rust.

I've never owned a car with rust on it........ The east coast must just suck...

But yeah, I'll post pics as soon as I get one worth posting pics of. My buddy is doing it in his spare time, so it might be a couple months.

has anyone thought of making a moon roof that opens like a sunroof? That's what I want. A tinted moonroof that functions just like my sunroof that is beginning to rust.
