Then they should bid for it on eBay.
That bronze tinted glass one went for ~$480.

Ne1 have a write-up on repairing the stock sunroof? Mine works but it gets stuck going back down and I'm too stupid to figure out how to take it apart to find out what the problem is.

That's obvious.
Any with a jigsaw can cut out the Lexan.
The problem is that it's still flat.
If you'd notice that the stock sunroof has a slight curve to it, this makes it a lot harder to make a true replica of the curve.
Adding curves to Lexan is a royal pain in the ***.
My point?
Having a piece of Lexan truly drop-in would end up being about $500...if not more.

If you're into having a flat sheet of plastic just cut to fit the shape, then by all means, go for it.
I'd rather have something that fits like stock, except I'm willing to pay for it.

I agree - the roof is domed, so a flat panel looks dorky.

Another option is to find a cheap generic aftermarket domed moonroof panel that can be cut down to size.

Yeah, the replacement needs to match the cars body no matter what.

Even if a fiberglass frame was used and bonded onto a glass or lexan panel, it would be better than just a flat panel.

I hadn't thought of the aftermarket sunroof panel approach... that might be a way to go.

whats the rate that lexan degrades? i was under the impression that lexas gets all fucked up and nasty after the sun beats on it? or has technology changed? i read that they wanted to do lexan on the new zo6...but they couldnt get any that was durable...if GM couldnt do it? does that mean this lexan is going to fail? lookin like ill hit up the speedmachine carbon since its 2lbs....at that rate becaue i was once interested in the lexan hatch...

I was actually talking more about the glass sunroof anyways. If someone can make a replacement glass for like 200-250 shipped to my door then thats what I would get. For some reason I think CF is ugly, maybe its just the pics that do it. I dont know!!

the moonroof I was going to make was tempered glass out of a glass company from Puerto Rico. The CEO of the company is a really good frind of my family, and his son owns a FC. i did call my mom in PR to get a hold of him. they are heavy, but well worth it. the price regardless was going to be around $250 a pop.

how would you shape the lexan? make a mold with a stock roof, put a flat piece on top, and heat it evenly until it takes shape into the mold?

That is correct.
You need a mold and an autoclave (fancy oven).
The autoclave allows for very precise temperature control.
This is what drives up the cost.

Why would you not use something like Plexiglas, Lucite, Acrylite, or Perspex?
