Let's play name that connector!

Also, does that ground pointed to in the picture go where I've put it (vacuum harness mount point)

Yes that is correct on the ground. Can you describe that connector for me, having a hard time with pic, + this monitor id dieing, hard to see. As well can you tell me what other plugs are on that lead of the harness.

The only black connectors should be the Temp unit on the back of the pump housing for E fan, The ALT, ACV.

The only oval plug I have seen working on them is the head lights, low imp inj resistor pack, and a adjustment screw on the fender well forgot name but don’t turn it :-D

I do not have any of these but does it go to the AWS sub zero system? Ether the bottle or under the plenum. Or EGR does the EGR use electronics?

These are the only missing items I can think of being I do not have that plug nor these items on my car.

Fun game, isn't it?!

It is indeed a black oval-ish shaped connector with only 1 wire. It is part of the harness that loops back around from the left side and feeds the primary injectors. It is about equal length to the green connector that connects to the water pump. I've accounted for every other connector on the harness except this one. Could it be for the PS pump or A/C compressor? I looked, but couldn't find any open connectors on them. They're tied up tight to the side right now though, so I didn't get the best of looks.

I should have mentioned that the car is an S5 NA.

What ......is.......the.......color........of ..........the .........WIRE.

And I don't mean the black sheathing covering the wire.

How many temp sensors/switches do you have on the back of your water pump HOUSING.

It's not for the O2 sensor...it's not on that part of the harness. I believe the connector does look similar though.

The colour of the wire will have to wait 'til tonight. For the record, the sheathing is grey, not black I searched like a bloodhound yesterday, so I'm pretty sure the water pump housing has only the one green connector on it.

Auxillery fan switch for the AC. It was an option. 75% of the time someone asks name that connector it's this one.

Looks to me like coolant temp sensor plug for the back side of the water pump housing.

If that's what it is, where does it connect? AC Compressor? It might be long enough, but it's on a really stupid part of the harness if that's where it goes.

It bugs me because it's the only connector I didn't label, which would normally mean it would be obvious to me where it goes! I was soooo careful when it took it all apart, but obviously not careful enough!

Well the aux fan was an option you you may not even have it. Check the back of the waterpump for an extra sensor with no connector plugged in. If you dont have it there no need to plug it in.

The wire itself is green with a black stripe.

Green with a black stripe equals the connector that should go to the water temp SWITCH for the aux fan. Not all cars came with the aux fan. But most harness have that connector. Just like you have any number or unused connectors on your car that are meant for options your car did not come with.

All cars that came with a automatic transmission also have a different water pump housing. That housing has one sensor and one water temp switch screwed into the back of the water pump housing. See the parts fische if in doubt.

Thanks all for your help! There is absolutely only one connector on the water pump housing, so this connector was unused, which explains why I hadn't labelled it. Also explains why the metal connector inside was a bit rusted.
