LED lights question........

Ok, I have seen a few post regaurding this subject, kinda inspired me to do what I did. I got a pair of tailights for $10 from a buddy cause one of them had a busted lens and he was going to toss them. Then I got some truck leds 4'' lights(almost 100 bucks)I took them home, and began to remove the lens from the busted taillamp, as if I busted it greater, no worry. I thought mazda would still sell the lens, but they do not. So i can get another taillamp for $50 bucks, and I want to do this led conversion, but I do not wish to bust another taillamp. so any help from anyone who has removed a taillamp lens would be of great help.

Removal is surprisingly easy.

Heat your oven to about 300. Make sure the plastic parts aren't touching the metal stove parts. Remove the screws and such before the oven set. Remove the small rubber outer too. You'll see*. After the oven is heated, put the tail in there for about 10 min max (I put mine on a pizza tray). The glue will soften and you can pry back the black plastic with the tabs on it. If it's hard to do, put it back in the oven for a few more minutes.

As for putting it back together. Others will say to use glue or epoxy, you don't need anything. Reheat the tail like the 1st time and the glue will reseal (I did use gorilla glue for the small rubber strip). I heated the whole tail for like 5 minutes (set the tail like normal (lens on the main part) after the glue gets soft again, you can push the lens down to get a seal (if it's to hard to push down, heat the tail a bit more).

I did this easily my very 1st time I did my modernized tails.

Good luck.
