CA Leaning out

I was told by a shop to get a stand alone ecu and upgrade my injectors. Because i want to add a exhaust and cold air intake because it leans out the engine and the stock ecu can not handle it. Is this true? The engine is a stock turbo 2 series 4 everything is stock i just want to add exhausts and cold air.

You need a fuel cut defender at least if you're getting a turbo back system. Without the FCD the ecu will cut fuel to the rear rotor at 8 psi or something. I would re-wire the fuel pump or get another one just to be safe. Assuming that the injectors are working well and that your fuel system is in good condition, the stock injectors can handle it, but just barely. The lean spot usually occurs around 3700 rpm because this is when peak boost is usually achieved and the secondaries have not kicked in yet.
