Leaking Turbo

I recently took my 90' Turbo II out of storage and have been going through the steps to get it back on the road. Plugs, Wires, Filters, Oil change, right now I am waiting on the fuel pump to arrive and removing/cleaning the gas tank.

Before I put the car away:
Oil was accumulating around the turbo housing. Causing the turbo itself to smoke under the hood a little after running.

It would puff smoke when pulling away after an idle and then mostly dissipate. I assume from oil leaking into the exhaust side of the turbo.

When I took the air box off, oil had accumulated in a small pool underneath the air filter.

So here are my questions.

1. Can I be fairly certain the turbo will need replacement or rebuild.
2. Is there are cost effective aftermarket one I should strongly consider replacing it with? (Not looking for a horse power monster here)
3. After fixing the fuel issue, will it cause any serious damaged if they car is driven short distances with the leaking seal? From depriving the motor of oil and/or overheating the engine.
4. Are there any other components I need to look at that might also be damaged? Oil metering pump, other seals, or anything else a noob might not know.

Since fixing this issue is next on my agenda, I would like to have a little experienced advice before starting. This is a little beyond what I have done in the past, esp on a rotary.

Thanks

I have a BNR turbo on my car, and it would burn oil until I put an oil restrictor pill in the line, then everything was fine. Might want to give that a shot, and be sure to clean out all your intake piping and intercooler with gasoline in order to get the oil residue out of there.

1. Yep, the turbo's seals are gone.
2. BNR is a good route. I think Brian offers rebuilds as well as upgrades.
3. Damage could incur if the leak is big enough and you get low on oil. Short bursts could be ok, but it will probably put up a smoke screen.
4. The fuel injectors might need a cleaning. Some of the coolant hoses might also be due to replacement.

If I bought his stage 1 replacement and ported to 30MM to match, would I need a larger flow fuel pump and ecu upgrade?

If you bought a BNR stage 1 Bryan would port the WG to 30mm. I would say yes you would need a better pump, maybe FD or Walbro 255 and either an FCD and bigger injectors or another aftermarket ECU like the Rtek or similar.

you wouldn't need bigger injectors or any fuel management if you got a stage 1, since there would be no boost increase, and little airflow increase...

If you leave the boost at stock-like levels, yes. But the stage 1 can run up to ~1 bar, and make around 300 whp.

he'll be fine with the stg1 turbo with no additional fuel or ecu tuning as long as he keeps boost at stock levels.

he already said he isnt looking for more power
