The title says it all... I can't find out where from though. When the tank is full it'll leak all over the place from the driver's side of the tank. Not just drip drip either.
My vent tube looks like crap. If I put the fuel cap on lightly it stops leaking... When I hop under the car only the bottom of the tank is damp... nothing on the sides?
What's the deal? The top of the tank that can be accessed through the two holes under the carpet are dry. Is it tough to replace a vent tube on an '86 rx7? Should I try raplacing the gas tank?
Any suggestions?

 

Did you ever find the problem? I have the same problem on my 85, and I would hate to have to buy a new tank from Mazdatrix for $490.

 

take it out and inspect it. it could be repaired or not. you can get one used or buy a fuel cell like i did.

 

I had the same problem with my 90 GXL's gas tank a coule years ago. It was leaking left side middle of tank under strap. I patched it with metallic epoxy and it lasted another year. I picked up a good used tank for $75 at a junk yard. Haven't had any problems since. The dealer wanted over $500 for a new tank, and I wasn't able to find any aftermarket tanks anywhere for 2nd RX7.
