leaking all over

hi all, i am a proud new owner of an 86 rx-7 gxl! i love the car to pieces already and my head is reeling from all the things i have planned for it! the car is in beautiful shape with only 139 000 original kliks, no rust lest for a small 1 inch fray at the end of the window seal. and the engine just purrrs. soom i will invest in some worthy upgrades and mods.

the problem is right now, my car seems to be taking water in the interior. i found a large pool of it hanging out by the drain plug in the trunk where the spare sits. and some more poled up where the jack sits. aswell, it would seem that the base of my doors is letting water in somehow. i think it might be getting in through the window seal but i am not sure. has anyone else had this problem? any suggestions (other than get new doors)?

thx

in the 'gutter' of the hatch, there should be 1 hole on eihter side of the car, this hole leads to a tube that goes down through the inside of the car, then down under the car to drain. if the tubes home how got pulled out and the corresponding holes get pluged up, the water has nowhere to go.

for the possible leak on the doors, just use a hose to see where the leak is from, then replace the seals.

ya i got a leak somewhere on my door too. If your from Coquitlam, BC then take your car to chris at eunos custom automotive. They specialize in miata's and rx-7's. Just a thought if you can't do it yourself.

For the rear leak, make sure the two drain hole are unplugged as previously mentioned. Another common problem are the gaskets tha seal the taillights to the body. They dry out and start to leak due to cracks.

As for the door, it is likely the seals have just dried out or fallen off the door. Make sure they are still in place, and replace if necessary (NOT cheap).
