A leak of curiosity
A leak of curiosity
While changing the hose that runs from the lower radiator to the engine, I believe I nicked the line or two lines that run right below it. I wasn't sure if I had done it at the time, but after seeing a puddle of hydrolic (feels and smells like brake) fluid underneath my car last night, I'm pretty sure they are brake lines.
My question is - are these brake lines, and what do I need to do to replace them? I will try to get pictures after work (almost time to go) to show you where I am talking about.

Brake lines are very small metal lines, and the stock ones on the 7 are painted grey.
Word of advice, WASH WASH WASH. Thoroughly get any brake fluid off of painted surfaces as it will decimate the paint. I swapped my brake master cylinder and spilled a bit of fluid and didn't realise it, and now I am missing a large area of paint on the frame.

There are no brake lines in the vicinity of the lower rad and the front of the engine, so whatever you boogered up, it ain't the brakes.
If you have power steering, it could be the lines on the rack, which would make it power steering fluid you spy.

You would Know if they are brake lines.
the brakes would feel Spongy/soft.
If the line was Plastic looking, you broke a line from the OMP to one of the Oil injectors.
That is the only thing I can think of that is in the vicinity of the lower rad hose that can get broken.

Premix helps lube equally around the housings unlike the oil injection. Overall premix is better IMHO.
If you have a S4 you can block it no problem. But S5 will go into limp mode. I dont know how to fix that, i never owned a S5. If your willin to spend some money and add a certain ratio of premix everytime you get gas then go for it.
Also ive heard of people keeping there omp while adding some premix at the same time but i dont know the ratios.
