leading coilpack wiring

so i lurked around searching for the answer, got conflicting results and don't understand them.

from this thread:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ilpacks+wiring
this image contradicts the wiring diagram.

wiring diagram:

the wires are mixed up according to the clip on the wiring diagram.
Furthermore, on the wiring diagram, the leading coilpack only has two wires label, when it clearly has three in real life.
G/Y (red?) -> to the ECU
B/Y (brown/tan?) ->to ground
mystery black wire -> ???

doesn't the leading coilpack need a +12v source?!??!!!??

basically my question is which wires go where:
tan/brown =
red =
black =

forgive me i'm not a rotary guy, i'm just using FC coilpacks on my ignition setup. Thanks for the help.

The reson the wire diagram dosn't make sense to you is the wire diagram shows what you see on the harness that plugs into the coil. As you've noticed, the wires change color after the plug.
