Launcing a N/A with D/Rs..
I posted this in the Gen Auto section, but got no responses, so thought I may fare better here. Anyway, Ive never tried to launch my car on drag radials, and I'm going to get a set before I go to the track (once my car is done, 1 thing at a time...). Anyway, when I launch my car now, on just street tires, I give a slight slip of the clutch at around 4krpm. With a good set of D/R (stock 15" wheel, 215/55 or so), can I just dump the clutch at redline and it will hook? Im putting an aluminum flywheel in, so launching was one concern I had, but If I can just drop it with a set of D/Rs or slicks, then it really wouldnt be too much of a problem
With street tires(20psi) on the track, I DUMP it at 6500. On the street with the same tires, only at 30psi, I dump it around 4-5000 or so. This is with Sumitomo HTRs..they stick. With E.T. Streets, havent had the chance to run them yet, but when I go back to the track, I am thinking the minimum of 7000-7500rpm

You get no wheelspin at all when dumping the clutch at that high rpm on street tires?? I have decent tires (Pirelli P6000, pretty much new) and if I dump the clutch at 4k or above I just spin. They are decent tires though, with my old firehawks i could spin about 1/2 way through 2nd and chirp 3rd, now it just chirps 2nd.
my_jdm must have something wrong with his car or get some horrible spinning.
Anyways, the DR's make sure you smoke them hard before a run. The hotter they are the harder they will grab. You should get a line lock for the front brakes. As for what rpm to launch at, experiment. Its different for everyone even if they are in the same car
