Arrow Large exhaust and possibly oil leak on TII.

Ive just put on a new downpipe so that cant be leaking. The car boosts at 5 psi. Its loud as hell and sounds like a weedwacker sound coming from the engine bay. Also when it gets hot, there is oil smoke that comes out from down by the turbo and also out the tail pipe. Sometimes theres lots of smoke, other times not much at all. Im wondering if there is a likely spot that the large exhaust leak is coming from. Also what could be causing the oil smoke? Does the oil come to the turbo from lines or does it come through the manifold itself? Thanks,
Chris

Exhaust leaks could be coming from anywhere, even that new downpipe you put on. To find exhaust leaks, start the car cold and run your hand over the manifolds, turbo and pipes. Do this quickly because the exhaust will heat up very fast. You should be able to feel the gasses coming out, and you may have to repeat several times.

It sounds like you have two oil leaks, internal and external to the turbo. The external leak is either the feed or drain tube. Degrease the area and then run the car to find the leak.

Blue smoke out the exhaust is an indication the turbo seals are getting worn. Rebuild the turbo.

Am I safe to rule out the possibility of a bad engine oil seal because it only smokes after hot. I thought that if the engine seal was to be bad it would smoke more when cold. Am I on the right track? Also, would buying a s5 turbo be a good option for me since i have a s4 car?

It's safe to assume (generally speaking) that it's not the engine if it's smoking under boost and not smoking while not under boost. However, if you rev it till 7K (warmed up) and let off the gas in N and it smoke on decel, it's the engine.

Smoke while boost=turbo.
Smoke while no boost=possibly engine.

well no smoke now, but the damn exhuast leak is getting bigger and my boost is getting smaller! This kinda sucks. It must be a gasket though right? Since its loosing a psi or 2 every day i drive it. Wheres the best place to get them? Mazdatrix is $36!
