lack of power after 4000rpm.. help

so i have a 1990 gxl.

and maybe for about the last month i'v noticed a true lack of power after about 3500 - 4000 through to redline.

i had a feeling it could be my aux ports or maybe my secondary injectors.

i'm just not sure.
my car isnt really modded, all it has is a bonez superflow cat, hi-6 ignition box.
umm ngk platnum plugs and ngk wires. and a custom cai which i made yesterday.

like i said this has been happening for awhile now and when i'm driving it just takes so long to get to redline.
it used to be way better.
maybe its the ignition box??

anyway any help would be appreciatted

How old is the cat? Make sure it isn't plugged up, as that'll kill your topend.

Sounds like limp mode since you have an S5. This is EXACTLY what happens.

Try pulling your ECU codes, limp mode happens when the OMP goes out.

thats right.

and it could be the aux ports, just check them to make sure they are free, its easy to do and you could at least eliminate that as a possibility. also check your VDI

i dont kno much about s5's, but from what i have seen on other vehicles, your situation does sopund like limp mode as said before

You will know if your car is in Limp Mode it will shudder and you cant reach WOT at ALL. It will jerk if you try to floor it and your Engine Check Light would be on.

=P i would think its your AUX Ports.

you dont have to replace any gaskets?? and you dont have to take off the hole intake. just unbolt it from intake elbow (connected to tb) and then from the afm. or just unplug the afm and unbolt the whole airbox. its only like four bolts man. the snorkle just pulls out of the box, no bolts.

Variable Dynamic effect intake (VDI). its the Manifold
