knocking sound at idle

knocking sound at idle

hi im new here.. got my car about a month ago and this week at idle it started to make a knocking sound.. i checked under the car where the noise was coming from but i cant figure out what it is or where exactly the knocking was coming from.. has anyone had this problem? when i hold down the clutch the knocking isnt as noisy, if that bit of info helps..

Most likely its in the transmission.. when you push in the clutch and it gets less, thats pointing me to the direction of the throwout bearing on the tranny.

Its a cheap and fairly easy fix.. but you do have to pull the tranny... which means pulling the exhaust as well.

do a search for throwout bearing.. should find some good info

also i could be the u-joint on the drive shaft are bad. cause i just had that same problem and i swapped bearings and put a new clutch in and pressure plate and the knocking got worse. so crawl under your car and put it in gear and check for any play in the drivesaft. if there is any play then you should replace your driveshaft.

i dont think it could be that cause thers a new driveshaft on the car unless it was installed wrong.. but ill check that first before i pull out the tranny.. thanks
