Knocking noise....
Hi, I just got an FC about 2 weeks ago, its an 89 GXL. I got it home, and When I started it for the first time... It started up, But when I reved it a bit.... (It was VERY cold outside, and the car did not have much gas...) But when it was reved a bit, It had a knocking, or a pinging noise from in the motor, it would go repeatedly if kept reving. I was wondering what the noise could be, beforehand It had sat for a year.... and now It wont start, so Im doing the unflooding process, but what are the possibilities of that knocking being?

check your timing, Knocking is Very very BAD, it could blow up your motor

very very very bad... agreed
Is this a turbo or n/a?
Change out the fuel filter incase its knocking for fuel. There shouldn't be any knock at idle though...

there was no knocking at idle, only when reving it a bit. It was VERY low on gas. But now its not so much. It had a.... Bad idle at the time, a little jumpy, had to keep on the gas a little to keep the car on for the most part, this was not always the case, but just for a little while. Also, I had a bad battery, but now I have a good battery. but I havent started it with the good battery yet.
Also, how do I change and check my timing? Where do I adjust this? I understand tooth timing for cams on a piston engine, but how does It work on a rotary?

First, check the plug wires:
If they get reversed, she'll knock like crazy.
The front (leading) coil wires go to the bottom plugs.
The trailing coils are back near the firewall, and their wires go to the top plugs.
The coils and the rotor housings are embossed with L1, L2, T1 & T2.
You have to look carefully to see them.
