near the base of the oil filler neck, threaded sideways into the middle iron from the front facing the rear of the car.

on the S5 it is threaded into the rotor housing right above the front trailing spark plug(top plug).

don't worry about it?

it isn't a crucial piece for stock engine management.

you could always buy one used also, they should be a dime a dozen in the for sale section.

the problem is, i'm having this noise and according to a well-known rotary enthusiast, it's crucial that i find out if i have a knock sensor or not....

he says it does sound like knock and if i keep driving the vehicle and if the noise keeps happening, it could be lethal towards my engine....

if it is in fact a knock then the stock knock sensor will not save your engine. you will need to find out what is causing it, either a bearing internally, an accessory driven by the engine, timing too far advanced or dilluted/fouled fuel.

i dunno what to tell ya, didn't we listen to this noise before? a good tuner should be able to identify an internal knock with an engine mic/headset.

nobody knows what it is or even has the slightest clue....

it's happened atleast 150times now and my motor still runs and sounds like a charm....

i'm suspecting it to be the clutch now, i dont know what it is....

yeah we listened the the noise before, and it's yet to get fixed....

i'm running good fuel, it's comming from the turbo side, oh and i had all the alt pully changed to a dual-alt pully and belts are all brand new....

i dont know if i mentioned in previous threads but it started doing this after i had spun out after hitting gravel one day a year ago....

personally...

i would ignore it. if it is serious then the car will tell you. sometimes it is more of a pain trying to isolate noises than to just ignore them if they are not getting worse or especially if they are intermittent.

well the concern i have is i could be at even less then 1/4 throttle, boost starts building and around 6-7psi it'll make the tick, other times it doesent, sometimes never, sometimes all the time....

but when i race it from a stop it makes no noise....

it's ******* stupid....
