Is a knock box needed for breakin period?
I'm missing a knock box for my new motor. I broke my last one trying to pull the wiring harness out. Is it absolutely necessary that i have one even in the break in period. (under 3000rpm, no boost at all.)
thanks.

Well if it starts knocking then it will just keep doing it.
I would highly suggest that you get one before running it, because knocks aren't limited to just a specific RPM range, they can occure at any RPM. The knock control box retards your timeing when the knock sensors dectect a knock. Anyways, I definatly wouldn't do it!

No it's a silver box up in the corner of the passengers side food well, it is like more toward the door jam. And it says "knock control" on it.
