Kia sportage diff in fc rx7

I remember seeing a thread on how to put a Kia sportage diff into my 89 fc. I want the 4.77 gears ratio. Anybody ever done this swap or know where the link is? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

There are guys that do it in their FCs. I don't know about the reliability so I'm looking for that information as well.

You need to have the pinion lengthened to fit an FC center section, so you'd need a donor set of FC gears as well

It is a direct swap into the large bearing or axle FB axles. I have the sportage gearset in my B2200, it was a direct swap, just had to change over the driveshaft flange. I am using a FC GXL LSD with these gears. The pinion is 1/2 the length for a FC.

I tried finding a shop to swap the pinion gear with no luck. I finally swapped the whole short nose diff using a custom driveshaft (longer) to work. Then had a fab shop build a custom front diff mount which ended up sloppy and clunking. After 6 months of trying to find someone to build a better mount, i fave up and put the stock diff back in.

Ps: d*#n i love the 4.77 for the short tims i got to use it

Speedsource used to make 4.88 and the same with ISC racing.

Welcome to Rebello Racing and Mazdatrix can do the fabrication for you.

Rebello costs about $350 + shipping them all the gears to do the modification. I may be doing a spare one here in the future. You'll need a Kia 4.77 r&p set and a long pinion for them to modify.

Good luck!

Welcome to Rebello Racing

His son does the modification.

or you could just swap to a ford 8.8" and have any gear ratio you want

Actually the better and cost effective solution in the end.

I love the gear ratio selection and it's easy to find a shop to setup a 8.8.

Either way you're looking at a big investment to change the final drive of these cars.
