Keyless Entry

Would like to install a KEYLESS ENTRY on my 1990 RX7 Convertible. Car has factory power locks. Has anybody every done this or had luck with an install. Any particular brand or type to look for?

I have tried this. I gathered a hell of a lot of info and had very detailed wiring schematics. I installed the system correctly, but no luck. The power lock system on the RX-7 jsut will not accept keyless entry. The way it works will not cooperate with it. Hell the driver side doesn't even HAVE a door lock actuator. Only the passenger side will work. And barely...it will either lock or unlock depending on what you want. But it won't do the reverse.

So to answer your question, no it cannot be done on the stock power lock system.

I've heard of it being done with the rx-7, but I'm not sure which brand they used.

I'd imagine the ones that work with the 1st cars to have power door locks (1950??) would do it

Trick is you have to get it to cooperate with the factory alarm.

Keyless is easy... what are you thinking supergoat?

You just have to add a Door lock actuator to the drivers door. ITs like a $20 retail part. Just about any aftermarket DL motor will fit and work just fine.

Then wire the keyless to unlock and lock the drivers door actuator you put in. The whole car will lock and unlock then.

As far as the factory alarm the two wires that need a neg pulse can be found in the drivers kick panel or at the factory alarm... You just hook up the unlock/lock output wires from the aftermarket keyless to those wires through a couple of diodes. Again its very simple.

Any alarm/stereo shop should be able to do this for you if you think that it is over your head.

Used to add keyless to RX7s all the time, charged $100. $50 parts, and 1 hour labor ($50).
