TX Keep or Ditch the S5 NA engine

My car is an NA and i picked it up from a guy who had no idea how to store a Rotary and left it in a feild to die.

Is the NA after a good rebuild and maybe a street port or Monster Street port a good engine to have for road racing and time attacks?

I am planning on Stance coilovers and some new brake rotors and EBC yellow stuff pads, would this be worth it or should i look into something like a Cosmo 13B RE or even a 20B for more power. Also i hear alot of people going Carb, is it worth it or just get someone to fine tune a new stand alone for the fuel injection system. I have been searching over and over and most people just trash the NA for a Turbo II engine.

Wouldn't all of this depend on the class you chose to race in?

At any rate, suspension and motor are apples/oranges, not either/or.

Great motor + crap suspension usually= fail.
Great suspension + crap motor...depends on the class and where you're racing.

This is a very scattershot post.
To race- anywhere and any class- you'll need to be much more focused.

The Prosche club here mainly races in two classes, Green and Red. The Green is for rookie drivers and the Red for the more skilled drivers. If i ever do race in real sanctioned races with the SCCA i would go by the rule book but here they just give you a tech inspection and class you by skill. Really i am more focused on making a good engine that will run with the some of the BMW and hondas in the green class. I know i can not handle like an S2000 or a series 1 but i would like to know that i can keep up with them. I just want to know if it is a good idea to rebuild and port the NA for what i want.
