PA CAS drive gear problem..

this is a S4T j-speck i installed the CAS drive gear rite an the pin is Maxed out, I was getting about 3mm away from the points lining up, so I moved the cas one tooth. Now, maxed out the opposite direction, I was still 3 mm away. Removed the front cover and lipped the drive gear. Reassembled and checked and it still lining up maxed out but the point in the CAS is a bit closer this way with the shampher pointing to the bumper . should i change it back

just keep trying... line the points up and you will have to spin it as it goes in. its not too hard and if done right it will be right in the center of the adjustment

FSM says champher (sp) faces the front side housing.

This engine have the original front pulley? Lined up prior to a rebuild and does not align now?

Yeah if you don't have the original front pulley then good luck trying to set timing with it.

ok i figured it out. i fliped the gear back around put it all back and it lined up the same way. but i have another S4t in the shop so i used the pulley from that and it lined rite up. the pulley that was on this motor was not the rite one. its a bit bigger then the s4t pulley maby its off a na or a s5t but its looking like it should be good on its timing marks now. now i have to change microtechs and fire this beast up thanks guys

yes the pulley and hub must be matched to the same engine for the timing marks to be correct
