K guys, I fail.

Alright,

So tonight I raced my friends 1990 eagle talon TSI.

Statistics show that I should have blown by his car on the 1/4 mile. But he beat me
by three car lengths.

His car was stock, 135hp. And my GXL comes 146hp stock right? I have Magnaflow
exhausts, and K&N air filter.

If your also wondering I had him in the wholeshot by 10 feet. But when he dumped it into second he just pealed away.

My engine was rebuilt in 2003 and theres only 30,000km on the rebuilt.

There is a hole in my exhausts. Is that where i'm losing power?

Plus, isn't the TSI allwheel Drive? That right there would make a huge difference.

There are 2WD (FWD) TSi's and AWD TSi's.

Yeah, I was a bit puzzled about the 135hp thing, since "TSi" implies it's a turbo'd 2.0l 4-cylinder...

I thought the GT was the FWD turbo and the TSi was AWD turbo. Or am i getting my DSM s confused, they should have stopped at the starion IMO

Ok, DSM class 101:
Eagle -
Talon - TSI - Turbo 2.0L FWD
Talon- TSI AWS - Turbo 2.0L AWD

Not alot of the eagles were AWD, you are more likely to run into the Mitsu version.

Mitsubishi -
Eclipse - GST - 2.0L Turbo FWD
Eclipse - GSX - 2.0L Turbo AWD

A friend of mine runs the Local DSM tunner club...they can be moster cars, but mostly they are shitty builds and done for very cheap. But they can be fast. bone stock they are quick.

Also, the GXL is the heaviest of the FCs excluding the Vert.

well if thats the case I would say it came down to driving...

do you have a breakdown of the ET?

what was his 60' vs. yours? etc....

But don't think just becuase you have a 7 you'll be smoking cars left and right - you have an N/A GXL, the heaviest model available aside from a convertible not to mention probably a few leaks and misses here and there...

Truth is the DSM even in stock trim are a formidible opponent - a fella round here had a stock...BONE stock...DSM turbo and would consistently run mid-high 14's at Cayuga....now I know you said you raced an N/A, but still...

If you're dead set on beating him I would check you aux. ports (as mentioned) and put the car on a good diet - then practice 1/4 mile runs........

Whats your excuse for why motorcycles are so cheap to insure in that case? Most of them are worth much more than the cars most young guys drive. A year of insurance on my bike is less than two monthly payments on a car. At half throttle, it would still slaughter either of these cars. Bottom line, young drivers are a cash cow for insurance companies. IMO, most young chicks and soccer moms driving daddies expedition who are blabbing away on their cell phones scare me more than a young guy. They develope that habit when they get there license and keep doing it for the rest of their lives.

You have no idea the traffic conditions that was done in (assuming it was on the road). Atleast he didnt mention weaving in and out of traffic while going 90mph trying to play TF&TF (Im sure most of us have seen those vids on some celica forums). A quick sprint down an empty road isnt the end of the world. Even if you've said you have never done it, Id never believe you.
