Interestingly, the Mazdaspeed parts catalog shows the same booster for all S4 apps (ABS & non-ABS), but shows the dual booster for the S5 turbo (ABS).
Note that clokker is a chronic modder (often a good thing), which you obviously aren't pursuing with this car. Stick with the plug n play booster. Hopefully you have a junkyard nearby to extract a booster from, although my advice remains - unload that rig before it drives you into upgrade hell. i.e. You think it's fast now, just wait until you add a aftermarket turbo. Oh. BTW that means a wategate, custom manifold, front-mount I/C (or worse v-mount), new ECU, and a revamped fuel system including regulator, pump, and injectors. Whoa, why is my bank account empty? RUN away!

Way more than I expected in terms of both time and money, but it's worth it to keep a car in this condition on the road.
It's for sale now.

god. that UIM is indeed painful to re and i. i must have done it 15 times at least because something was either pinching or rubbing/not routed right. finally got it just right. got back home. looked at my old engine, then realized the atomizers were for some reason not installed in the primary ports on the new/used engine that's going in. so off it comes again. oh well. at least it was found before i put it back in the hole.
your car looks stunning, bud. you have discipline to be letting it go like that for sure. guess it's all about the journey. GLWS. i'm sure you will release it only to good hands

Thanks guys. Yes, for me it's about the journey with these cars. I really enjoy working on them, but ultimately I only have space for what I have... and the money will just be used to fund the next project (which may very well be a money loser, who knows).
My favorite part is tearing down, cleaning, measuring and rebuilding engines and I was kind of bummed that I didn't get to do that with this one. It runs too well. I drove it to work again today... couldn't resist

There may be some S5 NA rotors and some porting involved

Got a visit from the new owner a couple weeks back. When he bought the car the reverse switch was a little flaky and I told him I would replace it for him with the Japanese version (no 5th gear switch) when it came in. It came in, so he stopped by and I threw it in for him. Not normally a job I would do on a car that had just been on the freeway for an hour - it was hot! But it worked out.
The guy loves the car - hopefully he keeps it long enough that I can help him rebuild the motor in a few years.

I don't know. He seems to love it as it is. It's got a couple extra ponies from the downpipe and RB catback.
I advertised the car as not needing anything because I thought the reverse switch was working, so when he showed up and it had flaked out I thought it was only fair to tell him I'd fix it.

You will most definitely see me again, with a case of beer, and anything else when it comes time for a rebuild. This car ain't going nowhere.
Cone : I like it just the way it is. And so does everyone else it seems.
My conversations with curious passer-bys generally go with them asking if anything was done, replying no it was OEM restored with a few needed changes that John did, and then getting an earful on that it needs to stay that way.
Starting to feel guilty just thinking about doing something.
But I do want to start little projects here and there just to get my hands into the engine bay. Especially now in the cold season.
