+1 im not expert but this seems like a over complicated thing here. if you want something to catch the parts of the apex i guess some good micro mesh could be put somethere and acheive the same result.

For anyone reading this thread who can't visualize why this is a bad idea from the simple replies:

A) You're putting something between the turbo and engine to catch possible parts flying from the engine. The piece or filter may become a flying particle long before your engine generates any.

B) Its an especially bad idea on a rotary given that under boost, 1700F temperatures can be easily seen on a decent tune (can you say melt-a-filter?)

C) A chipped turbine wheel is absolutely the LEAST of your worries should your engine let go.

D) Anything you DO put between the engine and turbo is going to decrease flow and therefore lower the overall capability of the turbo system you just installed. Quite counterproductive.

I broke all 3 seals in my rear rotor. My wheel is fine. Go with a big wastegate

^^ i'm with the above, if your apex seals are flying apart, you have bigger fish to fry than worrying about a turbo charger exhaust wheel.....

You guys are so serious...haha.

It would be nice , however it would ruin the flow. Not very practical-ment to be a funny.

wouldn't soot build up on this mesh and eventually raise the backpressue to some ridiculous number. Long before it actually does it's job.

No, the mesh would break apart and go through the turbo. Think catalytic converter.

I broke 2 of my apex seals on my rear rotor and they went right out the stock s5 ported waste gate. you can actually see where they took off the carbon ontheir way out. turbo was perfect.

My wastegate runners are on the outside of a bend so I'm good. I'll just have to blow it in boost.
