Just a simple question

I've been looking over these boards for a while now, maybe 3 or 4 months, ever since I got my 88 n/a. But there's still a question that I have. I know it's dumb, but what does FC and FD stand for, and what do they mean? I've tried looking through posts, but I still can't find it. And yes, I've tried the 'Search' option, but it has a requirement that all words be atleast 3 characters long, and obviously, FC and FD are only two, so I got no help from that. Thanks for helping me out.

FC & FD is a part of the modelcode.
VIN# JMZFC3131234567890
J= Japan
MZ= mazda
FC3= Model
13= Displacement
1234567890= chassis#

SA or FB is First generation Rx-7
FC is second .
And FD third.

Those Vin# are a result from the japanese car manufactors, agreeing to have a easy identification system.

example: JHMEC141234567890
Japan
Honda Motors
EC I think its a 88 civic
1.4 liters
1234567890 chassis#
