Just put bonez midpipe on..

Let's see.. I just *HAD* to test run the car with an open exhaust manifold to see how it sounded... ohhh god..

After i regained hearing, i had finished the midpipe install. It's *REAL* easy (If you have the right tools.. My cat->y pipe bolts were rusted to hell, so they took me ~4 hours to get off... yeah.)

My first impression.... MUCH more low end torque! I was really expecting to lose low end.. I really don't notice much more high end, but that's probably due to the fact that my front 6p is stuck closed, and i'm not convinced that my rear is opening.. The midpipe has a little hose that i assume is for the 6p's, but...who knows if it's actually working.. I'm thinking about what I want to do here.

Smells pretty bad... I hear an ignition box will help this a lot..that's next.

Moderately loud... Much more chainsaw-like.

I filled up yesterday...so far, it LOOKS like i'm getting a good bit better mileage, but i don't know for sure yet. I've also been driving it a tad easier for some unknown reason.. Mostly interstate.

I figure i'll leave the 6p's closed this tank, and maybe tie the rear open for the next one...see what the differences are..

The airpump is still on....for now..

Overall, for 160$, it made a good bit of difference.. The low end improvement was very, very noticeable....and i drive in that band a lot.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing but have a few questions

1. How much louder is it than stock?
2. Do you have stock cat-back?
3. Is it a good sound?

I want to install it but need to remain discreet about it. For some odd reason my parents are against me replacing my clogged cats with something better flowing and less legal, go figure!

Thanks and have fun.

1. not really sure how to quantify these... It's not absurdly loud, no.. It *CAN* be if you get on it and hold it at 6k, but if you try, it shouldn't wake up too many neighbors...

2. Hm... I have absolutely no idea which catback I have.. The previous owner put one on, but it's rather crappy.. I assume it's some generic "stock replacement." I HAVE compared my car (with cats) to REAL stock exhausts (with cats), and mine was a good bit louder.... That leads me to believe that the midpipe with a REAL stock exhaust would be even quieter than my current setup.

3. Uhm.. It's unique.. At first, it sorta reminded me of the standard ricer fart can bzzzzzzzzzzzzz sound... But the more I listen to it, the more distinct it sounds.. Some people will confuse the two, but this is much more of a chainsawish sound, and less farty/buzzy... Mmm... really hard to explain.. I am growing to like it more and more, tho..

im not sure if will help you as much as it helped me but i gutted my cats and the exaust had a terable smell of course. After going and get a new Bosch O2 sencer it has a much much better smell. its not like you can smell it 500 yeads away now. Plus it gave the car alittle more power and better mileage. Even smothed out the idel to.
