Just Purchased a TII and......

well as the title says i just purchased a TII and i asked the guy what the car has and its problems well here they are i paid a total of $1350 and the good things are

home built TID intake
2.5" dp/mp
2.5" catback
720cc secondaries
big fuel pump
apex AFC
RB FCD
taurus electric fan
S5 j-spec made to fit into an S4
removed vaccum spide
no emmisions equipment
A/C compressor removed but i still have it. condensor still on the car
Defi D-guages- boost and EGT
HKS type 1 turbo timer, the one that does 15 different things
mazdatrix thermo pellet bypass
S5 tails and S5 front bumper

the car is painted flat black and and runs but...

HERE ARE THE BAD PARTS!!!

#1the guy says when you floor it and boost and let go of the throttle smoke comes out of the exhaust.

#2 he had sold the car before to someone else and that guy replaced the alternator while doing so he broke the bolt that goes in the back so a way he tried to fix it was he soldered all the wires that go to it together onto the bolt and when he went to turn the motor over shot a huge spark and now when you turn the key to the off position it doesnt turn off but all other electrical works....

# that the motor idles a little rough that the rpm jumps sometimes from 600 to 1200 which i think is somewhat normal but......

Anyways is this car worth buying or no?? my brother says not to get into Rx7's that have electrical problems but im hoping this isnt anything big and we can fix it....

Thanks For All Your Help!

Nice find, sounds like it needs some patiences and TLC. I definately would not use it as a daily driver, but more like a project car.

it will be fine if you just fix the electrical problem. The smoke could be many things...blown turbo, motor, even tranny seal. For that price it sounds like a steal.

why would smoke come out of the exhaust because of a tranny seal

Sounds like it is just running overly rich. Poorly tuned turbocharged vehicles always do this. If something were blown, it would probably do it all of the time.

Sounds like something got fused in the ignition circuits itself, somehow bypassing the cut off that allows the car to be off. A cheap way of getting around this would be to use one of those batteries with the remote control disconnect until you can figure out exactly where things went wrong and how to fix it.

# that the motor idles a little rough that the rpm jumps sometimes from 600 to 1200 which i think is somewhat normal but......
Throttle Position Sensor and/or vacuum leaks.

Anyways is this car worth buying or no?? my brother says not to get into Rx7's that have electrical problems but im hoping this isnt anything big and we can fix it....

Getting into an RX-7 that naturally has a great deal of electrical problems is a bad deal. This electrical problem on the other was caused by the stupidity of a a man, not because the car's system is in bad shape. For the price, it is a steal. You can probably figure out the problem real easy.

The ignition itself could be faulty, or it could be something in the harnesses, or the main relays. Generally parts are pretty cheap so it's not too bad to fix the electronic gremlins.
