Just picked up my first rx7

hey guys, i just picked up my first rx7.

It's a 91 black gtu, it says gtus, but i have never saw an rx7 gtus, just gtu so i assume it was a sticker or something put on there.

I am either going to put a v8 in it, or the twin turbo motor from the 3rd gen rx7.

where can i get the conversion kit for the 3rd gen tt motor? i could not find one on ebay

thanks guys

No way..... quick, read the FAQs at the top of the 2nd gen section and report back before Icemark sees what you've posted.... your life may depend on it!!!

The GTUs was the BEST N/A Rx-7 ever created (I don't think anyone will say otherwise, right? )

It has the best N/A brakes, rear-end, engine and is the second lightest (the S4 base model is lighter because of the extra bracing on the S5s from what I can remember, don't have the hard numbers though).

I'd either keep it in it's original NA rotary form and clean it up or I'd sell it to someone that would baby it and just buy a TII and tinker with that if you want boost (it'll be alot easier then attempting an engine swap anyways).

driftin8ez....dont be so hard on the guy, he just joined. as for that information you can fit a swap kit for the v-8, which i am not recomending (stick with a rotor motor!), at http://grannysspeedshop.com/. the FD (or 3rd gen) swap is possible, but very expensive ($10k). you could swap a JDM turbo 2nd gen motor, which i would recommend b/c the are easy to find and cheaper than a v8 swap most of the time. Good luck with that and welcome to the fourm!

HEhe, took me a full five minutes to type my response and finish up with your mother before I hit the POST button, so I missed it.

BTW, I think it would be better form to take stupid fake new-user threads to the lounge where they would be a little more appropriate.

Thank you for the replies, and the people that aren't being helpful like TRACE just should stop posting here just to get their post count up.

10k for the TT swap? I only paid $100 for the car and it runs just fine, has like 67k on it. This old lady had it, it was her husbands car who passed away, and she just wanted it gone.

What about the v8 swap? That sounds really kool. How much are those kits

okay this Troll thread is done.

The GTUs is a lightweight model designed for racing and has great balance.

Neither a V8 or a 13BREW (the twin turbo) would fit without major modifications and distroying balance and handling that the GTUs is know for.

Either way V8 conversions help is found in the Other engine conversions section of the board, and if you are intrested in trying to fit a 13BREW into that car, you need to have at least $10k.

So this thread is done and closed, before it can be flamed and trolled up any further. Please do use the search function and read the FAQ for FC sticky thread before posting here again Texas.
