Just picked up my Auto FC

Ok, I bought an 88 automatic today from a guy in charlotte for $200 bucks, it runs and drives...well....sorta

I go to crank it to drive it home and it when crank it it will idle but it surges bad as hell and when i go to put it in drive it just stalls out.

The car sat at the shop for about 6 months and when i went to look at it the first time it started and ran fine and didnt stall out when i put it in gear so idk wtf is up.

All help is appreciated!

Here's a pic for yall too

First order of business: Auto > Manual conversion. It's super easy!

Second. You probably have a huge vacuum leak. It will cause Idle surging.

+1 for auto -> Manual conversion. It is rather easy.

ok so i was playing around with it today and now when i starts it will rev to like 6-7k and stay there for like ten seconds and then idle down and start doin the whole surging thing again...

I also noticed today that the plug wires were backwards too! gah! stupid non rotary people tryin to work on em!

and about the auto>manual, I probably wont keep the car long enough to do that. I just want to fix it and then i will probably sell it

My idle surging was TPS problems.

I just watched the video and I had the same symptoms and when the car warmed up it would stop surging.

Readjusting TPS solved the issue.

Well, its been a lil bit since i updated, I got the car running right now, there is some sort of adjustment on the side of the intake right above the throttle body that was screwed all the way in! so I backed that off and now it runs perfect! idles around 750. Now I just gotta fix the trans leak and get it legal and Im DD'ing this ****

nice, it has rare gsl-se rims from a 1st gen. I had a auto se sorta like that. it was great daily driver. they are super slow off the line, but if you ever had to commute on the freeway it totally makes up for it. lol

So I had a hell of a scare today....got back from a lil run in the FC and it was smokin bad, not a big deal i thought...i thought it was just the tranny fluid that was leakin hittin the exhaust...well it was...but it was on fire!!! so I freaked out and got some water and threw it all over it and put it out mostly...crawled up under there and the gasket b/w the pan and tranny was on fire still.

No damage done to the car. just a hell of a scare. it wont be driven again til it gets that new gasket put on...

But on a good note, I got my application for a new title put in today!!!!!
I should get it in about three weeks! im excited

What'd you do? I'm guessing you smoked the tail lights... or is that just because of the bad pic?

Looks cool man. From those pics, I couldn't tell if you removed rear window tint or what, but from the text I guessed the tails were smoked. What did you use.... I'm wondering how it would look on a black convertible

all i did was put a coat of black paint on it...very light coats...until I got my desired tint and then put a couple coats of clear on it and wetsanded it. I am doing the corner lenses as we speak. same way.

The paint i used was Rust-oleum specialty laquer in a can and the clear coat is Krylon Triple-Thick Crystal Clear Glaze 0500. and some 2000 grit sandpaper. it was really easy.

One of my friends did it on his black vert and it came out great.
