Just got the rebuilt engine in and it won't turn over

Help. I can't get the engine to kick over. I tought we connected everything back up, but when I turn the key the fuel pump won't start unless we jump the bypass connecter next to the air flow sensor. The car still won't start when the pump is working with the bypass connection. It cranks and sounds like it is about to, but doesn't fire. The big question is why doesn't the fuel pump run and then why won't it turn over when the fuel pump is jumped?

Maybe cause your wiring isnt hooked up right, which is why I say check for spark. Maybe your ecu isnt working/hooked up right. Its so eash to do, just pull a high voltage lead off the coil while someone cranks the engine. THe spark should fly at least 3 inches so wear some protective gloves.

not connected? Blown fuse? Check and RECHECK your connections. It would seem that something might have been overlooked.

If you do, then its fuel related. If you dont, then theres an ECU wiring problem. I'm guessing you will not get spark and then you can stop looking a fuel supply issues.

You can also use a stethescope or long thin screw driver and listen in on your injectors. If they dont make a lound obvious clicking sound then youve got ecu/wiring issues.

There was plenty of spark. I checked and rechecked all the connections and all but one were fine. I broke off the one wire which is attached to what looks like a relay and I can't figure out what it is attached to. I have attached a photo of the connection. It came off of the driver's side near the fire wall. If you can tell me what it is, where it goes to and how importatant it is, that would be helpful.

I pulled out the injectors after trying to start it and the rear primary hole was dry. The only way I can get the fuel pump to go is by jumping the short circuit terminal.

ANy help would be hugely appreciated.

you can check your fuel pump wires with a volt meter. When the key is on one of the wires gets a constant six volts. And another will get eight volts or so when you turn it over. Tha is how I knew mine was working properly when I was having problems. The pump is quite and can't here it like I can in my other car when I turn the key on.

what would cause the fuel pump not to work?

It only works if I jump the Short circuit terminal. why would it only work if it's jumped? Is there a connection or relay that this jumped connection bypasses?

That is a condensor (capacitor?) that is part of the oil pressure gauge circuit.
It should attach to one of the clutch slave cylinder mounting bolts.

That connection (or lack thereof) won't keep your car from starting.

OK i checked everything here are the symptoms

-car won't start
-spark is coming from the plugs
-fuel pump does not run when the ignition is turned on
-i hear a ticking when i put the stethescope on the primary fuel injectors but nothing from the secondary fuel injectors.
-when I jump the connector and make the fuel pump work, i get plenty of fuel coming out of the fuel rail (i know this because i tried to start the car with one of the secondary injectors off the fuel rail and it gushed fuel)

???What now? This was an engine rebuild from Rotary resurrection and i was hoping Kevin would respond to my emails for help but i have yet to hear anything.

Have you de-flooded your engine? Depending on how often you've tried you may have flooded the engine, so remove the fuse and crank it. put the fuse back in (and dbl check the connections) and crank.

Yep. Did that a bunch of times.

After each time, the engine stills sounds like it's no where near catching.
