just got my swap

i just got my s4 TII swap off the truck a few minutes ago and am a little worried, first of all it didnt come with a driveshaft as advertised but thats not my biggest problem i can just get a new one, but anyways i was told on the phone by the shop that the harness was uncut, i got it and its pretty haggard i mean im impressed because it seems almost complete but then on one end it was hacked and im not sure what that one end is. i need to go look at my shop manual and figure it out, but anyways i checked ebay for harnesses and all they have is s5 TII harnesses which from what i understand will not work correct? If that wont work do you guys know of anywhere that sells complete harnesses either refurbished or new. Ok next question the body of my car is an 86 NA automatic, the previous owner was going to do a grannys conversion but decided against it. Anyways there is a ford posi read end in there will that work with the TII drivetrain? And lastly has anyone actually done an auto to manual conversion and i dont mean had a shop do it for you i mean actually have done it yourself. Thanks alot for whatever help you guys give me. Im from chicago by the way. oh yea and if this was previously posted at some point i apologize i looked thru the FAQ and didnt see anything.

For the money, time, and aggrevation you should have just sold the n/a and bought a TII.
Sounds like you have a big challenge ahead of you. Can you verify that the rear end is a Ford Posi? Check the "for sale forums" on this site or post a WTB want to buy for the s4 harness. Do you know if the compression on the engine is good? Check that too before you start. Again there are how to's about testing the compression in the search field.

Good luck!

yea i know its not gonna be easy, but i got a great chassis no rust whatsoever for 200 dollars and then good motor besides the harness problem stated above for 1500. Even if i dump another 2000 into this, i think i still come out ok. Ive looked for TII's for sale and at least in my area they are way over priced and high mileage/beat up, definitely not worth buying. So like i said even if i dump another 2000 into this swap i still come out ok. If its really going to give me a headache ill see if a-spec tuning would do it. But id like to take a shot at it myself. Ive always worked on fwd hondas and mitsubishis and ive always loved rx-7s and i finally have one and i wanted something i could learn with so even if it is a headache there is the satisfaction of getting it done. right?

i did a 5spd swap on my s13.. its not too bad.. specially since u switching motors u dont have tog et the flex plate and adapter bushign crap off... on the s13 the holes for the clutch peddle were there all i had to do was drill em out and take a hole saw for the master cylinder then use a dremal to widen the hole... the brake peddle i just measured where i wantwed it (heal toe reasons) then hacksawed the excess off till i could get a stock pad on the peddle (looks stock but is close to gas for heel toe)....everything else is simple..bolt in run your lines..change the drive shaft and bleed...etc.etxc

thanks

yea i mean i already have the manual clutch and brake assembly i just never have done it, i figured its not to hard because most shops charge 500 bucks to do it for you which isnt that bad at all. And i figured out the harness problem im looking if i can get it cheaper anywhere else but i can get a brand new harness from mazda for 650 dollars and thats brand new no chance of being cut or damaged sensors so i might go that route anyways.
