Cool Just got my first RX-7

Hey all,

Just got my first RX-7, its a sweet 2nd Gen JDM 1987 Turbo.

Here's some specs:

Engine

13b Engine w/ TD06-25G turbo, HKS AIC Injector Controller, HKS PFC FCON Fuel Tuning, Racing Beat wires, HKS Intercooler piping, Trust Front Mount Intercooler, Sard Hightemp Vaccum Hosing, HKS blow off Valve, AM Clutch, HKS Filter, Electric Fans, 61,000 km

This board is an awesome wealth of knowledge, anyone got any tips to help me get started in babying this thing.

Is it worth it to get the manual from a Mazda Dealership?

Wheres the best places to order/buy/look for replacement parts?

And where can I get the emblems, decols, and rx-7 stuff that I'm missing?

Thanks for all the help!
Gee

Those are some nice engine/power mods. Great looking car!

How much did it cost to import that J-spec?

Yea thanks,

I paid $5.4k for it.

Almost all the mods and work on it was done in Japan. Saw alot of 'Works Hara' stickers on it.

Its photochopped yes, but its a real picture. They just blurred/huge pixelated the background. About the drivers(rhd) side headlight you can see where the grass is not blurred, again towards the back of the car the pavement is normal. Nice car btw.

agreed... effin sweet *** car!

now, to answer your questions...

read over the FAQ in the 2nd gen section of this forum.
don't do anything stupid to your car
for stock parts you'll probably want to start at www.mazdatrix.com

when I bought my car the owner included the 1990 FSM, which is the book I assume you are talking about getting from the dealer. I've found it to be very helpful on some projects, and less on others. sometimes it's easier to hop online and find a writeup by a competent person who speaks english instead of Mazda-Technician-Alien-Language (IE, you won't find them saying "check the green wire" in the shop manual ) but what you do get is awesome exploded-view pictures and factual detailed information. that's worth a lot.

have fun with your car!! you know it burns oil right?

Hahah yea, the background is all photoshopped probably to hide where the guy lives. When we were picking it up I was looking at that park and recognized it fairly easily though still.

Thanks for the info tie pilot!

Yea I have the 1987 FSM but its in Japanese

The car's been modified a fair bit by the original japanese owner, and the guy I bought it from is an importer. Lucky my brother is a car expert and knows alot about everything

Oil level is good atm, but any suggestions for what to kind/brand to use? I've heard Royal Purple and Idemitsu. Still unsure, is synthetic or the other kinds better? Sorry in advance for the totally newb question, tried the search and couldn't find what I was looking for. Link to the big engine oil thread would be cool though if anyone has hehe.

Thanks all.
Gee
