hey i just got an 88 FC and i drove it from edmonton to calgary and it was fine then when i got to calgary all the warning lights came on and wont go off and then the car started to loos power and would sputter couldnt get the rpms up and tyhe battery died.. i think it either the distributer or the fan belt because it was squelling too....... im new to FC's because ive been driving an FB for a year any help from you other rx7 guys would be much appreciated please help me!!!!!!

 

Did the alternator belt break?

 

X2 If the belt isnt broken I would definitely have the alternator checked.

 

yea the belt broke i looked under the hood in the light and noticed it right away thxs guys.......do you have to take all the other belts off to replace it??

 

u dont need to take any thing off well maybe some other belts. but loosen the alternator and u can make the belt go around one fan fin at a time until its in its place

 

yeah, you need to remove the belt going to the emissions pump to get to the alternator pulley.
